Custom software development

Web applications, business management software, e-commerce, mobile and desktop apps

I design and develop custom software, from requirements analysis to deployment and maintenance. For larger projects I work under the Polarityb.it name, together with Davide Testa and Maurizio Fonte. I also work with agencies and system integrators that need senior expertise on specific projects.

Areas of work

  • Business management software and CRMs: internal applications for managing customers, orders, returns, technical support, and invoicing.
  • E-commerce and payments: online stores, subscriptions, and clubs with Stripe, integrations with electronic invoicing and with SEPA.
  • Company websites in Next.js, static or with content managed by a headless CMS or by the business management software.
  • Mobile applications for iOS and Android, built with React Native, Capacitor, or Tauri.
  • Desktop applications, cross-platform with Tauri or native for Linux with Rust and GTK4.
  • Tools distributed as a single binary: Rust servers with a built-in web interface, installed by copying a single file and configured through a text file.

Some recent work

  • A CRM with a built-in CMS and a ticketing portal for technical support, from which the company's public websites receive their content (in collaboration with 3x1010).
  • EasyEPP, a web client for the EPP protocol of the .it Registry, and the maintenance and development of support and invoicing management software for RHX.it.
  • E-commerce and membership platforms with Stripe payments for wineries and for the education sector.
  • Design and development support in several research projects in collaboration with the LINKS Foundation, in agriculture, medicine, automotive, and law.
  • Nostromo, my own product: a system for managing fleets of MikroTik devices across multiple companies, with monitoring, configuration backups, and an SSH terminal in the browser.
  • Chemistry, my own product: a multi-site headless CMS in Rust distributed as a single executable.

Method

Every project comes with up-to-date documentation and a log of the decisions made. The code structure follows conventions that are checked automatically, the APIs are described with OpenAPI and the contracts between backend and frontend stay typed, and the tests cover all the supported databases. AI tools are part of this process, as described on the page on AI-assisted development.
